The reasons are many, chief among which, are quality control and material issues. In recent years there has been an explosion of foreign manufactured jewellery (mainly from India and China) now being sold in Australia. Most of this is sold through larger national retail jewellery stores as well as many smaller franchise style outlets. While there are a few quality examples, much of this jewellery is flat out substandard in manufacturing and materials. This is a fact as we do a lot of business just repairing these types of goods for individuals and other retail jewellery stores!

Jewellery is very personal, it is worn on your body in direct contact with your skin (some cases right through it) and it is of paramount importance that the metal used in its manufacture should be correctly assayed, pure, and hallmarked. There have been numerous reports about jewellery (especially cheap jewellery for children) containing lead or Nichol which is poisonous when absorbed into the body and can damage the nervous system or cause skin allergies. When we make your custom jewellery we guarantee one hundred percent the purity of the metal we use. We are also dedicated to using only high quality, precision cut and genuine natural gemstones. Unfortunately, we cannot be experts in every type of jewellery manufacturing, nor can we realistically make every piece we sell and not all of us want custom made jewellery every time we make a purchase. However, where we do sell jewellery, not made by us, regardless of whether manufactured in Australia or abroad, each item remains subject to the same rigorous standards of quality and metal purity.
